As we close the year, let’s look back on our 2025 Wrapped and some of our favourite highlights in a year when we unlocked USD 3 million in climate funding to support impactful projects across Lao PDR, Cambodia, Indonesia, and Bangladesh.
We supported five carbon projects, and two-growth stage climate enterprises, scaling their work in Cambodia, and Bangladesh. Our work has improved access to clean water, energy and cleaner cooking, all key in improving livelihoods in underserved communities.
Our 5 highlights of the year!
Second investment into TapEffect
Our impact fund, Pioneer Facility, celebrated a major milestone by providing a second investment of $300,000 in debt financing to TapEffect, a social enterprise dedicated to solving Cambodia’s rural water crisis by bringing piped water to rural communities. This funding, which follows a fully repaid $220,000 loan in 2020, will be used to expand its infrastructure at a fourth piped water station. That will bring clean and affordable water to an additional 6,000 households, nine schools, and three healthcare centers in Cambodia.
Investing in a new market with Pioneer Facility
Pioneer Facility successfully entered the Bangladesh market by investing $500,000 in iFarmer. This pioneering agri-tech firm empowers smallholder farmers by providing them with access to high-quality agricultural inputs, financial support, agri-advisory, and fair market linkages. The three-year loan provides critical working capital to iFarmer, enabling it to buy agricultural produce from smallholder farmers and purchase essential agricultural inputs directly from manufacturers.

New carbon partner in Lao PDR
This year we worked with a new carbon parter in Lao PDR. AgCoTech is an innovative social enterprise working to improve livestock health while significantly reducing methane emissions.
Our technical experts supported AgCoTech’s carbon reduction feasibility study and are in the process registering carbon credit projects throughout the global south. The AgCoTech Lao PDR project successfully secured Letters of Authorization (LoAs) for upcoming carbon projects in Cambodia and Lao PDR. These LoAs enable AgCoTech’s carbon credits to be sold internationally, with all projects designed to meet full CORSIA eligibility. Nexus will continue to support AgCoTech’s upcoming projects across Cambodia, Lao PDR, Thailand, Lesotho, and Kenya.

Long-term carbon finance partnership milestone
We are proud to mark 8 years of partnership with the National Biodigester Program, an initiative founded by Cambodia’s Ministry of Agriculture and SNV. The program was established with an ambitious goal to convert animal farm waste into clean, renewable energy for rural families through innovative biodigester technology. NBP is celebrating 20 years since the launch of the program.
Over the years our carbon finance experts have supported the program throughout the Validation and Verification Body (VVB) process, including annual field visits. The NBP projects has issued over 1 million of Gold Standard certified carbon credits since inception.

Looking ahead to 2026
None of these milestones above would be possible this year without the dedication of our partners, investors, and our team. As we transition into 2026, Nexus for Development remains committed to urgently mobilize carbon and impact finance to scale enterprises in Asia that benefit both people and planet.
